Stephen's First Solo Flight

Stephen Watson, 23, under the instruction of Chip Taylor, completed his first solo flight on May 5, 2007. Stephen served in the Air Force from 2001 - 2005 and is working for Midwest ATC as an Air Traffic Controller in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Melissa's First Solo Flight

Flight Instructor Randy Bledsoe with help from Dave Sigl and Chip Taylor.

Age 37, currently working for a print management company in Fort Worth. Loved flying since I was a little girl - my parents would take me to ABE near where I grew up in Pennsylvania to watch the planes take off and land most evenings and we'd listen to the air traffic control communication with them while we watched, I think that's what had me hooked; it just seemed so exciting!

Will's First Solo

Will Farber has been flying with Skymavs for a long time. He started when he was 15. As soon as he turned 16 he soloed.

What a great birthday present.

Will did a fantastic job on his first solo flight. All his hard work and patience really paid off.

Mark's First Solo Flight

Congratulations to Mark Townzen who soloed on Aug 16, which was also his son's 6th birthday! Mark is a former sailplane pilot with more than 500 hours as well as a high school teacher and gymnastics coach for the last 28 yrs. He is making a start in powered flying in hopes to be a commercial pilot someday. Also Mark recently took his Private Pilot written knowledge test and passed with a 97%. That's missing only one question!! GOOD JOB, Mark! His proud instructor is Lisa Ward.
